What warranty covers your Type E collection watch ?

Knowing the warranty terms for your Type E collection AJ-003 means fewer questions if something ever goes wrong. Here is what we offer with every watch in the collection, beyond a simple movement guarantee.

15-day returns

We give you 15 days to change your mind, one day more than the legal withdrawal period in Belgium. In practice, it's better to start the process as soon as a doubt appears rather than waiting until the last day. To withdraw, simply notify us by email (info@atelierjalaper.com) or by registered letter, without having to give a reason, using the withdrawal form or a clear written statement. We send an acknowledgement as soon as we receive your request.

Once the withdrawal is notified, the watch must be returned to us within 14 working days, with a copy of your order or invoice, and proof of postage sent by email. The refund is issued within 14 days of the exercise of the right of withdrawal, via the same payment method used for the purchase, subject to receipt of the parcel or proof of its dispatch.

This right doesn't apply in all cases: professional customers, those who ordered in the presence of a brand representative, those who explicitly requested immediate fulfilment, or those who ordered a personalised piece (specific finishes, materials, dimensions, engravings, or colours) are excluded. The returned watch must be in the condition in which it was received: undamaged, with no sign of use beyond what's needed to check that it works, with all accessories included. Once the deadline has passed, no returns are accepted.

2-year warranty

Every Type E collection watch comes with the Belgian legal conformity guarantee, valid for 2 years from delivery. It applies if the watch has a defect that was already present at the time of delivery, doesn't match its description, or doesn't meet the quality normally expected for this type of product. Any defect must be reported within two months of discovery: the warranty doesn't apply if you knew about the issue before purchase, or if you could not reasonably have been unaware of it.

Two exclusions are worth knowing in advance. The warranty doesn't cover using the watch at pressures or water resistance levels beyond what it was designed for: diving is the main example, as it's incompatible with the AJ-003's 5 ATM rating. And because every Type E collection dial comes from a unique piece of automotive bodywork, slight variations between pieces are not considered defects; they're part of what makes each watch singular.

Where the warranty conditions are met, repair or replacement is the preferred remedy. If either proves impossible or disproportionate, a price reduction or cancellation of the sale with a refund may be considered.

The warranty is transferable

If you ever plan to give or sell your watch, the warranty transfers to the new owner. Keep your proof of purchase and serial number in that case: they will make any future process easier, for you or for the person you pass the watch to.

Delivery and shipping

We deliver your watch in 2 to 3 working days via international shipping. Keep the tracking number until delivery is confirmed, particularly if you're outside the European Union, where customs formalities can occasionally extend that timeframe.

The serial number: your mark of exclusivity

When ordering, you have the option to choose your watch's serial number within the limited edition of 200 pieces. Our getting started guide comes back to this point from the moment your watch arrives.

How to make a warranty claim

If a covered issue arises, contact Atelier Jalaper directly with your proof of purchase and, if possible, your serial number. Avoid having the watch repaired yourself or by an unauthorised watchmaker for anything that might be covered under warranty: doing so risks voiding it. Our movement servicing guide explains the difference between routine maintenance and work that should go through the brand.

In summary

15-day returns, a 2-year legal conformity warranty, transferable coverage in the event of a gift or resale, fast delivery, and a choice of serial number : these are the terms that cover the vast majority of situations a buyer is likely to encounter. For anything specific, the customer service team is the best first point of contact before starting any process.
